Impact/Purpose:

This dataset contains continuous formaldehyde measurements in three field sites in the Long Island Sound region during summer of 2023. This data supports ongoing work to address ozone non-attainment issues in the Long Island Sound region. It also supports multiple field studies occurring simultaneously, including the NASA STAQS and the NOAA AEROMMA field campaigns. The data can be used by air quality scientists to better understand ozone production and chemistry in the region, as well as to validate air quality models.

Description:

This dataset includes continuous formaldehyde measurements made at three field sites in the Long Island Sound region during the summer of 2023. A Picarro G2307 formaldehyde and methane analyzer was run at Rutgers in New Brunswick, NJ and Aerodyne formaldehyde instruments were run at both Westport, CT and Flax Pond in Old Field, NY. These three datasets are calibrated on a common calibration, determined before and after the field study. Datasets will be provided in ICARTT data format include relevant metadata. These measurements were done in support of the 2023 NASA Strategic TEMPO Air Quality Science (STAQS) campaign, as well as the NOAA AEROMMA campaign.
