HMS – Hydrologic MicroServices?Using Web Services to Construct Flexible Workflows to Simulate Environmental Flows and Contaminants in Streams. 2023 Association of Clean Water Aministrator's Water Quality Modeling Workshop, Salt Lake City, UT, October 23 - 27, 2023.

Impact/Purpose:

Hydrologic Micro Services, HMS, is a hydrologic and water quality modeling system comprised of data provisioning and modeling components and workflows to facilitate environmental modeling. The components are available as web services, desktop libraries EXIT, and through a web-based graphical user interface.

Description:

Problem: Need a simpler, easy-to-use methodology to predict flow and constituents in surface waters that provides for model flexibility and intuitive user interaction   Objective: Develop a web-based platform to automate retrieval, processing, and synthesizing of data using web services and algorithmic modeling components   Approach: Develop and demonstrate USEPA’s Hydrologic MicroServices to simulate ammonia and nitrate in an example river basin using 3 different workflows
