Citation:
Burkhardt, J., T. Speth, L. Haupert, B. Datsov, AND D. Colantonio. EPA Adsorption Modeling Tools. 20th Annual EPA Drinking Water Workshop: Small System Challenges and Solutions, Covington, KY, September 11 - 14, 2023.
Impact/Purpose:
This presentation covers a basic introduction to two modeling tools for predicting treatment performance in drinking water systems. The first half covers AdDesignS, which is a modeling tool for predicting performance of granular activated carbon. The second half covers HSDM-IX, which is a modeling tool for predicting performance of ion exchange resin. This presentation covers introductory material for these models and includes a brief discussion of how modeling can be used to support the use of carbon or resin in drinking water systems. This is being presented as part of a larger training on adsorption technologies.
