Impact/Purpose:

To present USEPA's research on the control of PFAS in drinking water, including the upcoming projects to support the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.

Description:

To support regulatory efforts and the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund program, the USEPA is currently collecting treatment data for removing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from drinking water. This work includes evaluating the cost of managing residual streams which is often an important issue for many water utilities. This presentation will cover the aspects of removing PFAS from drinking water and from the resulting residual streams. Also covered will be a new EPA program to sample existing pilot- and full-scale PFAS treatment systems to determine the optimal treatment and operational approaches for the water qualities found across the United States, territories, and tribes.
