This presentation provides an overview of recent EPA Office of Research and Development research on the topic of resilient water infratructure.  

Description:

Our nation's water infrastructure is in need of billions of dollars of repairs, upgrades, and replacements. This presentation provides an overview of recent EPA Office of Research and Development research on the topic of resilient water infrastructure, including free models and tools developed to help water systems design and prioritize infrastructure improvements, as well as data and information that can inform infrastructure maintenance and improvements. Topics covered include corrosion, lead service line identification, infrastructure design and sizing with EPANET, resilience to natural disasters and extreme events, coastal and inland resilience, aging infrastructure technologies, restoring water quality after system outages, preventing storage tank overflows and damage, the Nonpotable Environmental and Economic Water Reuse Calculator, wastewater collection system design and sizing with SWMM, and green infrastructure to increase resilience.
