Impact/Purpose:

In late June 2021, the Biden-Harris Administration announced a number of new actions to increase federal support to emergency response to wildfires. As one of the series of actions, ORD accelerated making emerging air monitoring technologies available to emergency responders focusing on smoke and public health. The result is the Wildfire Smoke Air Monitoring Response Technologies (WSMART) program.
