Citation:

Erban, L. Continuous monitoring of nitrate loads at the outlet of a proposed cranberry bog restoration. RAE Coastal & Estuarine Summit 2022, New Orleans, LA, December 04 - 08, 2022.

Impact/Purpose:

Invited panelist for Restore America's Estuaries 2022 Summit session “Collaborative nutrient management through restoration: Restoring cranberry bogs to wetlands to improve Cape Cod water quality". Co-panelists from EPA's Office of Research and Development and The Nature Conservancy will speak to partners' efforts to understand the impacts of cranberry bog restoration on downstream nutrient loading, co-benefits for habitat and climate, and public perceptions of these types of projects.

Description:

In cooperation with the US Geological Survey’s New England Water Science Center, the EPA Office of Research and Development’s Atlantic Coastal Environmental Sciences Division has installed a paired stream gage and optical nitrate sensor for continuous load measurements before and after restoration, as part of broader efforts to quantify impacts.
