Measuring and Modeling Hypoxia in Coastal Ecosystems: From Estuaries to the Coastal Ocean

Citation:

Jarvis, B. Measuring and Modeling Hypoxia in Coastal Ecosystems: From Estuaries to the Coastal Ocean. Association of Clean Water Administrators: ACWA, NA, FL, November 10, 2022.

Impact/Purpose:

This presentation provides an overview of measuring and modeling techniques for evaluating hypoxia in coastal marine environments. Topics include case studies of hypoxia and modeling suvccess stories and challenges.

Description:

Hypoxia in coastal ecosystems is highly spatiotemporally variable and presents significant challenges to measurement and modeling studies aimed at evaluating and simulating hypoxia dynamics. This presentation presents an overview of hypoxia in coastal marine environments, with case studies intended to illustrate the dynamic nature of hypoxia. This presentation also focuses on simulation of hypoxia, highlighting the challenges and successes of past model implementation.
