Impact/Purpose:

Adverse health effects from traffic emissions can be mitigated by local green infrastructure when designed properly.  EPA has developed a new modeling framework to assess the positive and negative impacts of roadside vegetation on nearby air quality.  This tool can be used by planners and community leaders to design and assess the potential impacts of roadside vegetation on local air quality

Presentation provides an overview of the need for mitigating traffic-related air pollution, how roadside vegetation can positively and negatively impact local air quality, and the development of a dispersion modeling framework to quanitfy the effects of roadside vegetation on near-road air quality
