Impact/Purpose:
Sampling drinking water at homes, schools and other buildings can allow for assessment of lead through water consumption. Because lead in tap water can be highly variable (spatially and termporally), different sampling protocols may yield different lead concentrations and sample different plumbing sources/forms of lead. This presentation offers an overview of regulatory, diagnostic and exposure sampling protocols. It aims to provide an understanding of the differences between sampling protocols, to assist in selection of the appropriate sampling protocol depending on specific needs and objectives.
