Clements, A., R. Duvall, K. Barkjohn, AND A. Holder. New Resources to Support the Use of Air Sensors – Updates to EPA’s Air Sensor Toolbox Webpage. National Ambient Air Monitoring, Pittsburg, PA, August 22 - 25, 2022.

Impact/Purpose:

This presentation, made at the 2022 National Ambient Air Monitoring Conference, will briefly review the newest resources available on EPA’s Air Sensor Toolbox webpage. These resources will include items such as the Enhanced Air Sensor Guidebook, sensor evaluation summaries, training videos, presentations, educational lesson plans, and others.  These resources will help all air sensor users design and implement air quality studies.

Description:

In recent years, growing interest in measuring local air quality has led to increased use of air sensors.  Because air sensors are typically smaller, more portable, and easier to use than regulatory grade instruments, they can be more easily deployed and encourage participatory science for the collection of air quality data.  Air sensor users have a variety of experience levels ranging from highly-trained air monitoring professionals to community group members or students that may lack formal training.  With these varied user experience levels and the increased use of air sensors, there is need for information about air sensors and guidance to help users design and implement effective air quality studies.  This presentation will briefly review the resources available on EPA’s Air Sensor Toolbox webpage to support such efforts and will focus on the newest resources available.  Resources include the Enhanced Air Sensor Guidebook, sensor evaluation summaries, training videos, presentations, educational lesson plans, and others.
