Impact/Purpose:

Research on mitigation of climate change impacts on the environment and human health is a top priority for EPA-ORD. This presentation and co-facilitation of the roundtable session with ORD colleagues and clients presents an opportunity to exchange ideas that can help shape the direction of ORD StRAP4 research planning on this subject.

Description:

ORD-CPHEA-PESD research ecologist Bob McKane will present and co-facilitate a roundtable discussion for EPA-ORD’s “A Community on Ecosystem Services (ACES) Roundtable on 12/8/2021. Bob will present on “The Intersection of Climate Change & Ecosystem Services: Discerning next steps – where do we go from here?” This will explore challenges associated with using climate model output and incorporating it at the right scales into ecological models that show impacts to ecosystem services. The presentation will include a portfolio of ORD’s ecosystem services research, including issues associated with connecting climate change impacts to ecosystem services. Bob will also lead a break-out session exploring ideas on how the ACES community can do a better job in this ecosystem services research area.
