Impact/Purpose:

This is a practical introductory lesson to a Hydrology and Hydraulic graduate and undergraduate class for the University of Cincinnati Civil Engineering Department.  This will be two one-hour virtual lectures on October 4 and October 6, 2021.

Description:

SWMM is the workhouse hydrology and hydraulics program for stormwater and wastewater management. USEPA refactored SWMM 4 (FORTRAN) into SWMM 5 in C which was released in 2005.  Green infrastructure was added into SWMM 5.1 in 2010.  USEPA continuously develops SWMM with others in a Community Development environment, including recently retired staff.  This talk will discuss how a novice can get started using SWMM 5.1.015.  Common beginners’ errors and location for data from national databases with be discussed.
