Impact/Purpose:

Introductory presentation of the Health and Environmental Risk Assessment (HERA) National Research Program to the Board of Scientific Counselors (BOSC), reviewing the vision, objective and example products of the HERA program. The BOSC reviewed the implementation of research being conducted in the areas of new approach methodologies (NAMs), systematic review, and dose-response modeling.

Description:

The Health and Environmental Risk Assessment (HERA) Program is focused on advancing the understanding of the effects that exposure to pollutants have on key biological, chemical, and physical processes that affect human health. HERA’s vision is to advance the science and practice of assessments. HERA develops a portfolio of Products tethered to assessment science and innovation – delivering fit-for-purpose assessment products and assessment research that meet the needs and priorities of customers, including the states, tribes, and EPA regions and program offices. The HERA Program supports a number of Agency Priorities and mandates.
