Impact/Purpose:

The American College of Toxicology (ACT) and the Teratology Society are jointly offering a course, "Practical Reproductive and Developmental Toxicology." In this 5-day course, attendees will be provided a basic understanding in reproductive and developmental biology; principles of various testing approaches for reproductive and developmental toxicology, with strong emphasis on the practical application of these principles and interpretation of nonclinical safety data; and risk assessment. The intended audience for this course includes industrial and regulatory scientists, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows.

Description:

The talk on "Pre- and Postnatal Development/ Multigeneration Testing" will be given in a series of presentations on regulatory reproductive and developmental toxicology on the 3rd day of the course. The slides cover basic definitions and concept used in reproductive and developmental risk assessment. The presentation also provides information on EPA and OECD testing guidelines and study designs for environmental and industrial chemicals, as well as ICH study designs for preclinical testing of pharmaceuticals.
