Climate change, riverine flood risk and adaptation for the conterminous United States_

Citation:

Climate change, riverine flood risk and adaptation for the conterminous United States_. Environmental Research Letters. IOP Publishing LIMITED, Bristol, Uk.

Impact/Purpose:

Estimate inland flooding damages in the United States due to climate change and the potential implications of adaptive responses.

Description:

This paper combines a building-level database of inland flood risk for the conterminous United States, reach-scale projections of changes in flood frequency under climate change, and property-level flood adaptation costs into a simple benefit cost framework. This framework enables a screening-level assessment of the nationwide costs and benefits of riverine flood adaptation under assumptions of both static and changing climate.
