Recent Updates to the SWMM 5.1
Citation:
Simon, M. Recent Updates to the SWMM 5.1. Villanova Graduate Student Seminar, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, March 23, 2021.
Impact/Purpose:
This presentation is to inform Professor Robert Traver's undergraduate and graduate Civil Engineering class on the updated features to the SWMM 5.1 code in the past three years.
Description:
SWMM is the workhouse program for stormwater and wastewater management. USEPA refactored SWMM 4 (FORTRAN) into SWMM 5 in C which was released in 2005. Green infrastructure was added into SWMM 5.1 in 2010. USEPA continuously develops SWMM with others in a Community Development environment, including recently retired staff. This talk will discuss developments of SWMM since 2015, namely the additions of smoothing numerical oscillations due to abrupt flow pressure changes, sub-project scale infiltration schemes, dual drainage, and importing georeferenced layers.
