Impact/Purpose:

The presentation will provide Region 7 RPMs with a basic understanding of what services the Groundwater Technical Support Center offers and how to acquire the services. This will allow RPMs access to experts in the groundwater remediation and characterization arena.

Description:

The Groundwater Technical Support Center provides a link between ORD scientists and regulators for issues related groundwater remediation and characterization. GWTSC provides technical assistance to decision makers on CERCLA, RCRA, Brownfields, ecosystem restoration and other issues and provides guidance on site characterization investigations, remedial investigations, feasibility studies and selection of remedial alternatives. GWTSC facilitates access to expertise in hydrogeology, environmental engineering, soil science, geochemistry, microbiology, ecology and physical science field support through in-house scientists and through a technical support contractor. The services are coordinated through the Superfund & Technology Liaisons within each Region.
