An Integrated Observing System for Air Quality and Recent U.S. Field Campaigns
Impact/Purpose:
Presentation describes the recent advances in remote sensing measurements of regional air quality and applications to EPA and partner organizations.
Description:
Satellite missions directed at the study of atmospheric composition have evolved from coarse spatial resolution observations of a few compounds to high spatial resolution systems capable of measuring a suite of important compounds involved in ozone formation. The upcoming geostationary satellite (TEMPO) will provide hourly measurement of these compounds. Air quality modelers and management organizations can take advantage of this data for decision support applications.
