Reiner, E. Mitigating environmental impacts of the abandoned Interstate 95 embankment across Rumney Marsh. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, DC, 2022.
Impact/Purpose:
Investigate the effects of tidal restriction on Rumney salt marsh
Description:
To evaluate the tidal restriction associated with the abandoned I-95 embankment which crosses the width of Rumney Marsh, located in Revere and Saugus, Massachusetts, EPA undertook a series of investigations starting with a depth sounding investigation using GPS and Depth Gage instruments to develop a Bathymetric analysis. The results show significant scour holes at both upstream and downstream sides of each of the three major tidal restrictions in the marsh along the Pines River.
