Non-Targeted Analysis Research at the US EPA: Providing Innovative Solutions to Environmental Health Problems

Impact/Purpose:

Advances in high-resolution mass spectrometry and non-targeted analysis (NTA) workflows now enable rapid detection of emerging contaminants in a host of media. Over the past decade, researchers in the US EPA's Office of Research and Development (ORD) have utilized NTA tools to address pressing environmental health challenges. ORD researchers have also led an international collaborative trial aimed at identifying the strengths, limitations and applicability domain of various NTA methods. This presentation will highlight compelling case studies from ORD's NTA research portfolio, as well as key findings from the NTA collaborative trial.
