UPDATE ON THE UNITED STATES TOTAL DEPOSITION (TDep) MEASUREMENT-MODEL FUSION (MMF) ACTIVITIES

Citation:

Schwede, D. UPDATE ON THE UNITED STATES TOTAL DEPOSITION (TDep) MEASUREMENT-MODEL FUSION (MMF) ACTIVITIES. Update on the United States Total Deposition (TDep) Measurement-Model Fusion (MMF) Activities, Geneva, SWITZERLAND, February 26 - 27, 2019.

Impact/Purpose:

The U.S. started producing values of total atmospheric deposition from a fusion of modeled data from the Community Multiscale Air Quality (CMAQ) model and observed data from the Clean Air Status and Trends Network (CASTNET) combined with data from the National Atmospheric Deposition Program National Trends Network (NADP/NTN) in 2013. A similar effort is now underway in Canada. The World Meteorological Organization now has a project to extend the effort globally. An initial workshop was convened in 2017 to discuss the feasibility and a workshop is being held February 26-27, 2019 to discuss the progress and solidify plans. This presentation provides and update on the current status of the U.S. efforts and future plans to extend the data.

Description:

The presentation provides an overview of recent updates and planned research related to the development of values for total deposition for the U.S. obtained from a fusion of CMAQ modeled data with observed data from CASTNET and NADP/NTN.
