Impact/Purpose:

The purpose of the National Stormwater Calculator (SWC) web application is to extend the number of users that are able to utilize the SWC; using web browsers on computers, smartphones, and tablets. The SWC web application will expand the number of users of the SWC software beyond computers that run on Microsoft Windows.

Description:

The National Stormwater Calculator (SWC) is a software application that estimates the annual amount of rainwater and frequency of runoff from a specific site. Estimates are based on local soil conditions, land cover, and historic rainfall records. Users supply information about the site’s land cover and then select the low impact development (LID) controls they would like to use. The LID controls include seven green infrastructure practices. The SWC is designed to be used by anyone interested in reducing runoff from a property, including site developers, landscape architects, urban planners, and homeowners. The SWC mobile web-based app can be used on desktop devices and mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, and is compatible with all operating systems. It works best with the following browsers: Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Apple Safari.
