Impact/Purpose:

Session proposal abstract for 2019 Society of Toxicology annual meeting

Description:

Many organizations have been developing new approach methodologies (NAMs) to inform the toxicity and kinetics for chemicals which there is little to no apical/phenotypic data available. Cross-federal entities such as Tox 21 and the Office of Research and Development’s (ORD) National Center for Computational Toxicology (NCCT) have generated high throughput (HTT) on thousands of environmental chemicals. The challenge becomes how can HTT and NAMs be utilized to inform risk-based decisions. This portion of the course will focus on potential approaches and workflows for expedient assemblage and translation of data that inform hazard, dose-response and potential exposure for a broad landscape of chemical contaminants. ORD’s RapidTox dashboard has been developed to fill this need. From physical chemistry properties and environmental fate and transport, to empirical and/or predicted exposures, hazards, and dose-response, the modules within the RapidTox dashboard may provide the path forward for efficient environmental decision making that impact human health and ecological viability.
