Diagnostic Sampling Tools for Lead in Drinking Water

Impact/Purpose:

This presentation consolidates information from several previous presentations by different DWTDB authors to address two timely topics for solving lead in drinking water problems: How to properly design and conduct sequential sampling programs at the residence or building level; and how to choose the right sampling and monitoring tools to get more meaningful estimations of exposure risk from lead in drinking water at both the residential and community level.

Description:

This presentation will focus on practical details for how do conduct "profile" or "sequential" sampling for residences or buildings (such as schools or hospitals), and will critically discuss why most estimates of "exposure" from lead in drinking water in the literature are erroneous and how public health agencies and water systems can actually implement meaningful exposure estimate sampling programs, based on existing research literature.
