Impact/Purpose:

The purpose of this presentation is to bring awareness of the planning activities of the Office of Research and Development's (ORD) Chemical Safety for Sustainability Research program in the area of nanomaterials and nanotechnology to EPA's program and regional staff. The intent is to spur further discussions between ORD and the program and regional offices about how ORD can design research in this area to be most useful to its partners.

Description:

As the Office and Research and Development continues developing new Strategic Research Action Plans, implementation plans are being developed. This presentation will highlight the development of an implementation plan for the Emerging Materials and Technologies Research Area. Six potential research areas are discussed and they include: 3D printers, quantum dots, development of a nano database, nano releases from consumer products, nano enabled pesticides, and the transport of nanomaterials in the environment. This presentation will be used to further the discussion with Program and Regional Office partners to help us craft a research effort that will be of utmost use to the partners.
