Citation:

Hall, A. AND F. Kremer. Using GIS to Assess Underground Storage Tank Vulnerability in Disasters with a Focus on Floodplains. ASTSWMO Meeting on Disaster Management, New Brunswick, NJ, May 01 - 02, 2019.

Impact/Purpose:

Presentation at the Association of State and Territorial Solid Waste Management Officials meeting on Disaster Management, May 1-2, 2019, New Brunswick, NJ

Description:

Extreme precipitation events are occurring more frequently in the U.S. This is accompanied by increasing hurricane damage along U.S. coastal areas with increasing coastal populations. Given the higher density of fueling stations that exist in areas with higher populations, it is important to understand the geospatial implications of potential flooding events on the tanks facilities and the potential vulnerabilities to communities.
