Brown, C. AND T Chris Mochon Collura. Temperature, salinity and depth data from Garibaldi (OR) from August 2017 to October 2018. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, DC, 2019.

Impact/Purpose:

This dataset was prepared upon request for data on salinity from the public. These data were collected in support of research on estuarine water quality, to assess the contribution local factors to expression of acidification in estuaries.

Description:

These are temperature, salinity and depth data collected by the US EPA at Garibaldi, Oregon using YSI datasondes (Yellow Springs Instrument). The YSI datasonde was deployed under dock owned by the Port of Garibaldi near the entrance to Tillamook Bay. The YSI sondes were replaced approximately monthly with newly calibrated YSIs (calibrated following standard operating procedures). Upon retrieval, the YSI instrument was returned to the laboratory where its performance was checked. When the instrument was serviced in the field, an independent meter was used to collect independent readings for verification. The calibration and post-calibration data have been reviewed, and bad readings removed (e.g., when instrument out of the water); However, these data were collected using automated instrumentation and other bad readings may be present (esp due to biofouling).
