Impact/Purpose:

Summary data are presented from the new ORD tool TechTracker stating potential to document ORD's contribution to cooperative federalism, that is, the evolving reliance on collaboration by EPA with state, tribal, local, and federal partners to improve environmental protection. The review also includes a mockup of the actual poster to be presented.

Description:

With publication of the “FY 2018-2022 EPA Strategic Plan” the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency endorsed cooperative federalism “to improve environmental protection through shared governance and enhanced collaboration [by the EPA] with state, tribal, local, and federal partners1…” This evolving reliance on collaboration across government at all levels is supported by the EPA Office of Research and Development (ORD). Increasingly ORD is seeking input from EPA partners and stakeholders to identify and address pressing environmental problems. Herein, we report on the topics and demand for ORD scientific and technical expertise based on data from TechTracker, a new tool developed to document the hours, topics, and users of ORD’s environmental expertise.
