The Environmental Protection Agency’s Edison Environmental Center (EEC) has a research and demonstration permeable parking lot comprised of three different permeable systems: permeable asphalt, pervious concrete and permeable interlocking concrete pavers. There is also an adjacent set of rain gardens, planted with native, salt and drought tolerant species. Water quality and quantity analysis has been ongoing since January, 2010. The focus of the presentation is on the background need for green infrastructure due to urban development practices, the construction and implementation process of the permeable pavement and rain garden demonstration site and an overview of monitoring results.
