Impact/Purpose:

This presentation will discuss the Chemistry Laboratory work on the USEPA/USAID laboratory capacity building project that has been conducted for the past 3 years in Accra, Ghana, at the laboratories of the Ghana Water Company Limited. The presentation will highlight the importance of implementing a proper QA protocol in a drinking water laboratory. The goal is to let other African countries who are attending the conference to be aware of the need to implement basic QA program to ascertain that data coming out from their laboratory are reliable and meet the requirement of having a safe drinking water for the public.

Description:

This presentation will outline the importance of implementing proper validated methods and QA in a Chemistry Drinking water laboratory. The presentation will discuss some of the initial assessment of the chemistry lab and the training that we implemented to improve and correct on some of the findings. This presentation will be part of the conference that Mark Rodgers is attending in Gabon.
