Citation:

Rodgers, M. Laboratory Capacity Building as Part of a Larger Vision for Safe Water in Africa. 7th Africa Water Week, Libreville, GABON, October 28 - November 02, 2018.

Impact/Purpose:

This presentation will provide the audience an opportunity to think about the role of laboratory testing as a part of the larger solution addressing the lack of safe drinking water in Africa. This presentation will set up the three following presentations in this session detailing the specific activities of our laboratory capacity building project in West Africa.

Description:

This presentation will outline the importance of laboratory testing in the context of what is needed to provide safe water to African countries. I will speak on the lack of safe water around the world, on some specific information on this issue and I'll suggest that having laboratories that can produce credible water quality data is a critical need if African countries are to be successful in providing safe drinking water.
