Impact/Purpose:
The purpose of this presentation is to share the Smoke Sense research initiative as well as other EPA research on wildfire smoke and health with participants of a special topics course at Virginia Tech Honors College.
Description:
This presentation will provide an overview of the Smoke Sense app and related projects as well as other research being conducted within ORD on wildfire smoke. A description of the Smoke Sense 2017 pilot season, preliminary findings from that data collection will be shared, and updates to the app for the 2018 season will be presented. Implications for citizen science and future research will be discussed.
