AQ Management Systems: Evaluating Sensor Quality

Citation:

Hagler, G. AQ Management Systems: Evaluating Sensor Quality. 2018 MARAMA Monitoring Committee Training Workshop, Charlottesville, VA, December 04 - 06, 2018.

Impact/Purpose:

This is an invited talk for the Mid-Atlantic Regional Air Management Association workshop on air monitoring. The presentation provides a state of the science overview on emerging air sensor technology, presented from the lens of what is most relevant to state / local / tribal agencies.

Description:

This presentation follows several other presentations on air sensor technology, so spends less time giving in-depth overview of the technology but focuses more on how an air monitoring agency may utilize this technology for specific purposes, how they may be in a responding mode from outside groups collecting data with sensors, and what are the key knowns and unknowns about this technology. The presentation also briefly goes beyond air sensors to also talk about emerging air quality data fusion products and some information conflicts that occurred in 2018 during the summer wildfire season.
