Time step vulnerability analysis of Louisiana pre- and post- Katrina. Presentation given at the American Association of Geography's annual meeting which host the latest in research and applications in geography, sustainability, and GIScience. The AAG meetings interdisciplinary forum promotes research, education, and the application of knowledge about natural, technological, and social hazards and strengthens communication and collaborative activities among geographers and other disciplines pertaining to hazards.

Description:

This talk presents research on vulnerability analysis of Louisiana pre- and post- Katrina. This presentation examines the spatial changes of social, economic and environmental conditions before and after Hurricane Katrina. Shannon index of bird diversity has been decreasing since 2000. Different scales and locations experienced distinct impacts. Not all population groups and local communities were equally impacted by natural hazards or benefit from reorganization.
