Impact/Purpose:
This presentation summarizes results from EPA laboratory research, research in the peer-reviewed literature, as well as EPA field studies at drinking water treatment facilities. The goal of the presentation is to transfer knowledge to state primacy agency personnel, drinking water utility personnel, and practicing engineers.

This presentation presents data describing: (1) the removals of cyanobacterial cells through coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation and filtration, at the pilot- and full-scale; (2) the impact of powdered activated carbon on the removal of cyanobacterial toxins; (3) the impact of potassium permanganate on cyanobacterial cells; (4) the impact of potassium permanganate on cyanobacterial toxins; (5) the impact of chlorine, UV and ozone on cyanobacterial toxins.
