Neale, A. EPA’S EnviroAtlas: Indicators for Working Watersheds. 2018 ICRW, Shepherdstown, WV, July 23 - 26, 2018.

Impact/Purpose:

Presentation at the ICRW, Shepherdstown, WV 07/23-26/18.

Description:

Over recent decades the government has made a wealth of information publicly available as part of the Federal Open Data Policy. The EnviroAtlas provides a wealth of geospatial data and other resources to decision makers, educators, and researchers. EnviroAtlas resources are organized according to the benefits we receive from ecosystems (i.e., ecosystem goods and services) with one of the major categories being Clean and Plentiful Water. Much of the information contained within EnviroAtlas may be of particular interest to stakeholders engaged in the research, maintenance, protection, and improvement of aquatic condition and functional integrity within watersheds. This presentation will provide a brief overview of EnviroAtlas resources and will include data related to water use, potential wetland restoration, potential evapotranspiration now and in the future, floodplain delineation, water quality trading, aquatic invasiveness, overland flow, and pollutant loads.
