Impact/Purpose:
Presentation at the inaugural Bernard Harris Memorial Symposium: Risk in the 21st Century at North Carolina State University May 2018
Description:
We would like to know more about the risk posed by thousands of chemicals in the environment – which ones should we start with? Using in vitro methods originally developed for pharmaceuticals, we can make useful predictions of hazard and TK for large numbers of chemicals. Exposure data is also key to risk-based prioritization. Consensus modeling provides one path forward, but is only as good as available data. This presentation provides an overview of the extensive work being done by the EPA Office of Research and Development on chemical safety through informatics.
