Green Infrastructure at the Edison Environmental Center - Permeable Pavement
Citation:
OConnor, T. Green Infrastructure at the Edison Environmental Center - Permeable Pavement. Presented at New Jersey Water Environment Association (NJWEA) 103rd Annual Conference, Atlantic City, NJ, May 07 - 11, 2018.
Impact/Purpose:
This presentation will focus on the permeable pavements at the Edison Environmental Center, NJ.
Description:
The project involves green infrastructure research at the Edison Environmental Center (EEC). In 2009, EPA constructed a parking lot at the EEC comprised of permeable interlocking concrete pavers, pervious concrete and porous asphalt. Rain gardens adjacent to the parking lot infiltrate roof runoff. The parking lot and rain gardens are instrumented for continuous monitoring while water quality monitoring is performed on select storms. Rainwater harvesting was started late in 2010.
