Impact/Purpose:
A chapter for a college-level textbook on LCA edited by the American Center for LCA.
Description:
Product environmental claims include a wide range of marketing claims, labels, declarations, statements and reports that are generally intended to distinguish a product as environmentally friendly or ‘green’. They differ from organizational environmental claims in they refer particularly to an environmental aspect of a specific product and not the organization that manufactures, distributes, or retails a product. This chapter presents an overview of quantitative product claims that are based on a life cycle assessment.
