Engineering an organotypic culture model of endocardial cushion morphogenesis

Citation:

Grode, K. AND S. Hunter. Engineering an organotypic culture model of endocardial cushion morphogenesis. SOT Satelite Meeting, RTP, North Carolina, March 13, 2017.

Impact/Purpose:

The focus of this talk will be on the challenges associated with developing a human cell-based experimental model system for studying early heart development. The central message will be how difficult it is to induce the biological process of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in 2-dimensional cell culture versus 3-dimensional cell culture. The impact of this talk will be to raise the awareness of other cell biologists and biomedical engineers in the field who aim to recapitulate this key developmental event in vitro.

Description:

Microsoft Powerpoint slide deck for a ~15 minute talk.
