Description:

EPA ORD has collaborated with EPRI in the development and application of LEAF including evaluating the use of fly ash as a substitute for Portland cement in the production of concrete and other cementitious materials. This research resulted in two peer reviewed publications and served as the basis for EPA's decision to allow coal combustion fly ash to be used as a substitute for Portland Cement in the 2014 determination [Coal Combustion Residue Beneficial Use Evaluation: Fly As Concrete and FDG Gypsum Wallboard (February 2014)]
