Impact/Purpose:

At the invitation of the United Nation International Development Organization (UNIDO), Dr. Summers is presenting the approach used by EPA in its assessment of estuarine/coastal ecosystem condition for the estuaries of the Gulf of Mexico. UNIDO and its Large Marine Ecosystem program for the Gulf of Mexico is developing its own program for the non-US portion of the coastal systems of the Gulf of Mexico and may use the US NARS' (National Aquatic Resources Surveys') approach for the Mexican and Cuban estuaries.

Description:

Presentation of the design, indicators, data collection and analysis approaches used in NARS for the United States and in particular the estuaries of the Gulf of Mexico.
