Impact: The webinar will reach a significant number of federal officials in HHS’s CDC and CMS thereby increasing awareness of EPA tools and resources, and ORD science.

Description:

On November 14, 2017 Dr. Wayne Cascio, Acting Director will present a webinar titled, “Availability of EPA Tools and Resources to Increase Awareness of the Cardiovascular Health Effects of Air Pollution” to HHS’ Million Hearts Federal Partner’s Monthly Call. At the invitation of the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Dr. Cascio will provide a general overview of the broad variety of tools and resources provided by the US EPA to inform the public and health care professions about the relationship between air particle pollution and cardiovascular health. The main focus of the presentation is to introduce the Air Quality Index that represent an enormously successful federal and state partnership and serves as an important tool to guide outdoor activities by the public. The webinar will also feature a description of the continuing medical education course just released by ORD and OAR, and highlight the value of the partnership between EPA and Million Hearts as we cooperate to prevent 1 million heart attacks and strokes over the next 5 years.
