To provide overview of how industrial by-products are evaluated using EPA available documents and how leaching is evaluated using LEAF in developing source terms in use in fate and transport models - We have contributed to each of the documents identified and have links identified.
Description:
The use of industrial by-products as a replacement to mined or extracted materials can save energy and other natural resources. However, it is important that you consider changes in the environmental conditions that a material may come into contact with either through chemical or physical properties that can affect the potential leaching behavior. The goal is to provide more efficient and effective environmental management.
