Description:
As climate change alters the quality and quantity of water in local ecosystems, we will be faced with management challenges. Research experience in the St. Louis River Area of Concern would indicate that collective action is possible in response to the threat of degraded water quality. GLWQA was innovative because it created mechanisms to facilitate local cooperation and a common vocabulary. In this short talk, I will discuss how climate change is also a threat to our water resources. Collective action will be possible through the application of ecosystem services as a common language, the use of boundary or bridging concepts, and volunteered geographic information.
