Impact/Purpose:

Communication of the impact of increased corn production on ground water quality and human health, the importance of ecosystems services to water quality and human health, and the value of using coupled models to assess impacts holistically

Description:

In this study, we use a complex coupled modeling system to assess the impacts of increased corn production on groundwater. In particular, we show how the models provide new information on the drivers of contamination in groundwater, and then relate pollutant concentration changes attributed to increased corn production between 2002 and 2022 to health and cost outcomes.
