Oudejans, L., D. See, D. Chappie, A. Ellingson, AND K. Mitchell. Fate and Transport of VX and Sulfur Mustard across a Permeable Layer into Porous Subsurfaces. Presented at 2016 US EPA International Decontamination Research and Development Conference, Research Triangle Park, NC, November 01 - 03, 2016.
Impact/Purpose:
A release of a chemical warfare agent (CWA) into the urban environment has the potential to contaminate painted and/or sealed building materials that would require remediation. This study investigated the fate and transport of two CWAs, VX and sulfur mustard (HD), deposited on painted/sealed stainless steel and on freestanding paint/sealant films.
