Description:
This project is part of a program to investigate the use of innovative techniques for detecting and locating leaks in waste impoundment liners. Laboratory and small scale field studies were undertaken to evaluate the potential of Acoustic Emission Monitoring (AEM) and Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) techniques. Results indicated that both methods do have potential application, but that further evaluations are required to determine usefulness in field conditions.
