Description:

The Ground Water Technical Support Center (GWTSC) is part of the Ground Water and Ecosystems Restoration Division (GWERD), which is based in the Robert S. Kerr Environmental Research Center in Ada, Oklahoma. The GWERD is a research division of U.S. EPA's National Risk Management Research Laboratory (NRMRL). The GWTSC is one of an interlinked group of specialized Technical Support Centers that were established under the Technical Support Project (TSP). The GWTSC provides technical support on issues related to ground water. Specifically, the GWTSC provides technical support to U.S. EPA and State regulators for issues and problems related to:1) subsurface contamination (contaminants in ground water, soils and sediments), 2) cross-media transfer (movement of contaminants from the subsurface to other media such as surface water or air), and3) restoration of impacted ecosystems. The GWTSC works with Remedial Project Managers (RPMs) and other decision makers to solve specific problems at Superfund, RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act), and Brownfields sites, as well as at CAFO (concentrated animal feeding operations), and ecosystem restoration sites.
